It’s difficult not to be hungry after a workout. You’ve just been in the gym, working hard and sweating away the calories. It is not all that unsurprising that your body wants to refuel. While there are a number of choices you can make for your post workout snack, there are some that stand out above the rest. The important thing is to choose a healthy snack without starving yourself. Denying yourself a post workout snack can leave you even hungrier at your next meal, which could lead to overeating.

Protein will also help you to stay full between meals and give your muscles the nourishment they need to grow strong. If you are someone who doesn’t have the luxury of heading home right after your workout and still need to get something in your stomach then this is a great choice. Bananas are a great choice if you are looking for something that packs a nutritional punch without making your stomach feel overly full or heavy. A nice sized banana is packed with nutrients and carbs that your body needs post workout. It is a sweet treat that works as a great base for protein shakes or even just on its own as a quick snack to hold you over until your next meal.
