Some may work for you and some may not. Some of the diets that work for you may not even be all that healthy. But if you are looking for a healthy and effective way to lose weight and help your body learn to be healthier, then you should check out the 5-2 fasting diet.
The 5-2 fasting diet works by lowering your caloric intake severely on two days out of the week. This keeps your body guessing, which does not allow it to plateau or begin to store calories for a later time.

The promoters of this particular type of diet say that you can eat anything that you want during the normal five days of the week. This includes high fat foods and processed items, though they do suggest that you take all things in moderation and try to reach your nutritional goals and requirements each and every day.

Then, for 2 days out of the week, you will take in a severely smaller amount of calories. For men, this amounts to 600 calories on the fasting day, and for women it is 500 calories.

These days are not meant to be done in a row. The 5-2 fasting diet allows for you to choose what days out of the week that you will be limited on calories, and in most cases, they suggest sandwiching fasting days between two regular eating days to allow you to maintain energy and still be able to go about your day.

You will still eat, even on the so called “fasting” days. On these days, you will have anywhere from 500-600 calories at your disposal. While most dieters choose to try and split these calories between breakfast and dinner, it is truly up to you how you decide to use your daily allotment of calories on fasting day.

You could choose to use all of the calories on a heavy, protein rich breakfast and then not eat again until the next day, or you could choose to make smart 100 calorie snacking choices all throughout the day. These choices depend on your body type, your schedule and your own personal reaction to hunger and hunger pangs.

While this diet does allow for you to eat whatever you want, you will see more results by making smart choices. By staying within your natural caloric intake amounts during the five days, you will help your body to not have to work all that much harder to burn away the calories and the pounds.
